My Voice & 45 Strings August 13, 2010 Mrs. Angela Lee This title took a long time in coming out from it's first review on the BBC back in March. Now that it has eventually arrived it is one of the most played CDs in the house and car.In general a quality CD with multipe 'catchy' tunes and not harp music as we know it.
Fantastic Debut Album! August 12, 2010 Eric CM Lo I come from Hong Kong, and I've just received the My Voice & 45 Strings at the end of last month thru Amazon.co.uk. It's so pity I cannot find this album in Hong Kong record stores, even HMV, although Lucinda is now main label (Universal Music) artist!
An uneven encounter by BBC Radio for herself being session harpist of Robbie William's show directly lead to her signing of album release, and being a Jew (originally name Lucinda Kladovsky), her songs had diffused Jewish influence (for the title track), or traditional blues (Dodo Blues, first single), this time being her voice and "45 strings" - Harp. (Previously I had listen several singer-harpists and all comes since end of 1990s and 21st century.)
Apart from well acclaimed songs Valentine, Northern Lights, the track These Broken Things has a very soft mood which leads me think of the Award-winning (Crystal Bear Award of Internationale Filmfestspiele Berlin 2010) Hong Kong film Echoes of the Rainbow (Year 2009 Hong Kong film, playwright and directed by Alex Law Kai-Yui), and the lyrics seems well describe the family in the film and the theme "In the changing lives, Time.....is the biggest thief" very well.
This is an amazing debut album although she releass this so late (she is 36 years old when she does so) and she would have bright another half-life in music, in contrast to first half-life in laundry.
Fantastic! July 15, 2010 elledan1 (essex.uk) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Better than Norah Jones and Katie Melua. Lucinda Belle has more bite to her voice and each track is quite different. Would suit anybodys taste
A real toe tapper! July 15, 2010 Ms. A. Burbage (England, UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is one of the best albums I've heard in a long time. Every song makes me want to get up and dance! It's just a feel good experience from start to finish :D
